Now you can begin riding. Once you've gotten up to speed, keep your pedaling cadence at roughly one rotation per second. Is it possible that the resistance is too high? The right-hand shifter is used to downshift. Is it a little too low? The right-hand shifter is used to upshift. You want to stay in a sweet zone where you experience a moderate but long-lasting degree of resistance...this is referred to as "spinning" by many cyclists. You'll encounter hills, wind, and weariness while riding, all of which will alter your resistance. To get back into your spinning sweet spot, upshift or downshift.
