   A variation on the above proposal:

   When shifting up to a higher gear shift to the cassette sprocket that provides the gear ratio greater than and closest to the gear ratio being used at the start of the shift.

   When shifting down to a lower gear shift to the cassette sprocket that provides the gear ratio lesser than and closest to the gear ratio being used at the start of the shift.
