Firmware Update Revert
In the event of a 'hanged' firmware update, the component simply stays 'hanged' and the deraileur system is totally unusable until update can be completed. Can it revert (roll-back) to pre-update status?
In the event of a failed or interrupted firmware update, the AXS device will enter a recovery mode where the LED will flash repeatedly. To recovery an AXS device, connect to the part in the AXS Mobile app (screenshot 1) and allow the update to start and finish (screenshots 2 and 3). If you are unable to complete this process please reach out to our Customer Service Representatives by email at apps@sram.com.

I've run into this same issue twice now @SRAM. Can anyone help with a fix? Sent in first Force front derailliuer with the infinite update loop problem, followed the factory reset etc... tried different devices with no luck. Got l loaner Red FD from a friend, was working on his bike, when trying to pair with my RD (Force), wouldn't pair, the FD updated the firmware and now is stuck in the loop... Anyone have any advice?

Having exactly the same issue with my front derailleur (RIVAL AXS). It won't connect with any other component, and every time I update it says successful but requires the same update. None of the solutions in this thread have worked for me (alternative phone, press and hold AXS button whilst reinstalling battery etc). Going to take them out and leave them over night but I won't hold my breath. SRAM kicking the warranty to the bike shop 100 miles from my house where I purchased... What horrible customer service. Not sure where to go from here if anyone has any other possible solutions to try...

Same here. Always worked perfectly until it stopped working today. I didn't even update the derailleur. The battery had been charged over night, put it back in, first thought I've seen something on the derailleur but it didn't react to the remote. So, I switched batteries but nothing helped. Stayed dead.
Later I found out how to at least see it back in the app, by holding the AXS Button while putting in the battery. I then tried the update process over and over again on three different devices - nothing. Always wants to update to the same version (46.5 something), that is already installed on the device. Tried everything voodoo-possible including the attached pdf but nothing. Please SRAM provide some guidance to solve this. problem) This problem exists for at least three years now. How comes, that some guys seems to be able to fix it themselves?
It's just sad buying such an, expensive component which fails shortly

After riding as normal yesterday, I went to bed and got up this morning to ride an audax. I started and realized it’s not shifting so I pressed the deraileur button to check battery - nothing, no light or movement. So I opened the app and it tells me to update, so I tried that. Update was successful but nothing is happening. Not shifting, nothing happens when pressing the button to check battery status or shift manually. Went back home to switch battery, same issue. I've now multiple times 'successfully updated' the firmware to a version I've had from the beginning. Manual pairing and resetting doesn't help. Checked and changed shifter batteries, used an iPhone and android in both logged in and offgrid modes. NOTHING. Pressed button while reinserting bsttery, all the below advice. NOTHING.
Seems like the RD is not broadcasting any signal, only when in pairing mode. My phone doesn't see it, the shifter's are not connected to it either it seems.Any ideas?

ok so this just all happened to me on my samsung note 9. it was deff the phone I was using. for me the fix was to unplug/take the battery out of everything, close the app on the new phone and my phone. and then turn the app on on the new phone, plug only the derailleur battery in, and update and it worked.
at first the new phone didnt work until I took all batteries out of everything and restart the app on the new phone and also close the app on my phone. I dont think all that stuff was totally nessisary but it was deff one of those things that made the difference because like I said the new phone didnt work the first try. (the new phone was someone elses, its a LG G7 ThinQ that worked)

Hello,
since yesterday I have been experiencing troubles with the firmware update of my RD-FRC-D-01 part.
While riding my rear derailleur all of a sudden stopped working. I then tried to open the app to see if it was recognized. That happened, it looks like a firmware update was needed.
I launched the process and received a successful outcome but the derailleur is still stuck, when pressing the button the LED is blinking light yellow which should address the firmware recovery mode.
I tried several times the procedure by following the steps in the pdf found in this thread, even with a different mobile phone with no success.
Attached is a snapshot of my mobile phone when performing the update. -

Thanks for sharing this, it really helped me!
tried 5 times, with 2 diff phones and always blinking in yellow.
The fix is to keep pressing the button while connecting the Battery and then run the Firware update. thanks! -

This SRAM document worked for me. I wish that the information was easily located. It might have saved other people from the issue!

Update : I contacted SRAM support (support@sram.com). Got in touch with Alex, also called out above. I exchanged a couple of emails with him and they fixed the problem. In the updated app version, the firmware upgrade process is changed. I tried it out and it works now. Thumbs up for the support. I was a very annoying problem, but the support process works.

Don't use the AXS App with Android 10 !!!
The problem several people describe here is a known problem and it makes your gear useless. The work around is to take an older Android device or an Apple device. That is of course if you have that around. I did contact SRAM with my utter disbelieve they allow this to happen in their software ... For those interested : it's a problem that with the bootloader and the bluetooth stack. A type of problem that happens, but should be catched during testing. And if it's not (for some reason), should be mitigated as soon as it's flagged. Which was ... september 29th ..So for those people now in trouble and unable to ride : no other option than getting somewhere a different device. I'm waiting for an answer of SRAM, because so far I learned 2 things : stay away from this AXS app and stay even further away from firmware upgrades. Don't fix what is not broken ... It's not like somebody will hack you bike ...

Hello, Had the same problems here. Rear Forcel AXS derailleur stuck in firmware recovery mode while loading the 'other' firmware (not newer! from v2.7 to v2.3).
After installing the SRAM app on another adroid device it worked. Nevertheless I could update the other devices on my bike without any problems. So don't think it was an Android problem. Sram please do something about your app ! (we pay enough :-( i think) -

SRAM admin answer isn't helpful!
My rear derailleur isn't finalizing the update from firmware 2.8.1 to 2.19.5. After complete cycle of new firmware download and bluetooth push up to the AXS rear derailleur it says: "Update canceled" and " DFU Device Deconnected".
To have the AXS device now stuck in a frozen status, is a severe design flaw. All would be fine even with the old 2.8.1 firmware if it just shifted as before my attempt to update. -

Same here. Rear Rival AXS derailleur stuck in firmware recovery mode while loading the 'other' firmware (not newer! from v2.7 to v2.3). t's raining complaints about it so i'll post my solution and not the bullshit non-solution Sram gave here.
After some internet fora reading i tried using the AXS app on a older Android Phone with ANDROID 8 (instead of Android 12). And voila, firmware installed!
So Sram needs to fix the AXS app immediately because a lot of customers are going to panic! -

Big thanks to Alex from SRAM who called today and helped push a software fix to the nonfunctional device via my phone app. If you have this problem, you might ask to speak directly with him. Huge help and saved me a few weeks of waiting for a part.

Same problem here too. SRAM is sending me a new FD but that won't be here for weeks, if not months. Unacceptable.
